AP Studio Art
AP Drawing — Sophomore Year (2021-2022)
How do we curate the spaces we inhabit to both reflect our inner selves and the expectations we uphold? A room can say so much about both the story and the psyche of a person, almost as if it were a self-portrait without the person being physically present. With this portfolio, I aimed to capture the feeling of being a stranger in someone else’s space, adventuring and exploring each foreign environment through the lens of an outsider. I made use of a wide variety of materials, expressing my guiding inquiry through the intersection of 2-dimensional images with 3D elements. This portfolio returned with an AP score of 5, for which I am incredibly grateful and excited to continue pushing my ability to communicate ideas through my artwork.
AP 2D Art — Junior Year (2022-2023)
This AP sustained investigation centers around the effects of hierarchical systems on the individual. Through the depiction of various power dynamics, repetition, and surreal settings, my portfolio demonstrates the parasitic and ironic relationship between hierarchical systems and individual agency. I wanted to paint a bunch of different scenes with wacky environments, mainly for fun but also to experiment with my ability to create immersive images that capture the viewers’ attention. I had lots of fun creating this body of work and I am honored to have received a perfect score for it.
